Our Story
We briefly crossed paths in middle school but became real friends early on in high school. We stayed close within a large group of good friends throughout our teenage, college, and adult years.
When Kelsey temporarily moved back to Manassas after living in Ecuador, Mike was living nearby and we became closer than before. A few months later, Kelsey left for a year in Spain.
Again, Kelsey moved back to Virginia and Mike made it clear that he no longer wanted to just be friends. We started dating and have been inseparable ever since!
The Proposal: July 2, 2022
We booked a backpacking permit for Conundrum Hot Springs near Aspen, Colorado and we looked forward to the trip for six months. When the time finally arrived, it was peak wildflower season in the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness.
We hiked nine miles to our campsite and when we got there, we realized we blindly booked the best tent spot in the area. It was secluded and overlooked the hot springs and valley below.
After camping that night, we spent the morning soaking and relaxing in the springs - we were the only people there. Then, we went back to our campsite to make coffee, cook breakfast, and watch the sun come up over the mountains.
While waiting for the food to cook, Mike popped the question. He said it would've been a long nine-mile hike back if Kelsey had said no!
